Multitasking is it benefitual

Multitasking is something a lot of us do each day.  Probably most of us do it several times a day, sometimes without realizing we are. Multitasking like a lot of things may be useful in moderation.

The general consensus seems to be if we multitask we can get more done. To me it’s became a habit and not one that is always benefitual.

When we multitask nothing has our undivided attention. Ask yourself when was the last time anything or anyone had your undivided attention? Before you answer that consider this. Your mind is part of you, if you are physically doing one thing while thinking on one or more other things you are multitasking.

I wondering is multitasking a habit it would benefit us to learn to control? And would the best place to start be in our minds? Would learning to focus our minds on one task at a time bring less stress and more peace into our lives? By doing one thing at a time would we finish quicker, and maybe produce an effort we’re more pleased with?

If we took one day or even one hour to really notice how much we multitask and what kind of results it produced both physically and mentally what would we learn? If you don’t think you multitask often ask yourself what else were you  doing or thinking while completely one task.

If multitasking in moderation might be useful how and when will you begin? We live in a world that thinks always being busy often doing several things at a time is a sign of success. What toll is that form of success taking on you, your family, your job, our world as a whole?

For me in my life I and maybe you need to as well, need to notice and turn away from multitasking when I’m spending time in God’s presence.

What are your thoughts on multitasking?
